Dr Roberta Lamptey is passionate about diabetes self-management education and support and is an international leader in diabetes treatment and education. She has delivered lectures and conducted workshops on a variety of topics related to diabetes. She has served as a faculty member and speaker at both the national and international levels. Her research interest is focused on prevention of diabetes and improving diabetes care. In addition to her practice at Euracare Ghana, she serves as a consultant at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH). She is a former Deputy Director of KBTH and established the Chronic Care Clinic of the KBTH Polyclinic/Family Medicine Department. She is also a part-time lecturer of the University of Ghana Medical School Dr Lamptey is a fellow of both the Ghana College of Physicians and the West African College of Physicians. She is an executive member of the Diabetes Endocrine and Metabolic Society of Ghana. She is also a member of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. Dr Lamptey received her training in diabetes from Cardiff University at the Postgraduate and Masters’ degree levels graduating with distinction at both levels. She is also the recipient of a silver award for academic excellence from Cardiff University, School of Medicine. Dr Lamptey also completed her Fellowship in Family Medicine at the West African College of Medicine.
